Stainless Steel Essence Recovery System. System is used to "strip" feed juices of their flavor by evaporation and to "concentrate" these esters in a distillation column. System consists of a reboil u-tube, with a reboil rate of 328 lbs/hr, connected to an 11-1/2 in. inner dia x 17 ft. H essence column for fruit juice concentration. A Whitlock Hi-Transfer shell and tube heat exchanger/condenser, with (222) 5/16 in. dia. x 36 in. L tubes and 65.9 sq. ft. of surface area, is designed to keep condensate temperature as near to boiling as possible (212 F). Another Whitlock Hi-Transfer shell and tube heat exchanger with (84) 5/16 in. dia. x 36 in. L tubes and 24.7 sq. ft. of surface area, is used as a condenser/vent cooler and is designed to cool non-condensibles to within 15-20 F of water temperature.
